Debut Album "The Spaces in Between" - To Be Released November '12. * * * I love music for so many different reasons. We use it to party, dance, and simply have fun. It powerfully enables us to connect with people, things and Other. Music relaxes us, inspires us, energizes and romanticizes. Sometimes it perfectly relates to us or causes us to examine our own thoughts and actions. And sometimes music hits a nerve that needs release so badly, and it feels so good. My name is Dan Griffith, and I hope my music will do all of this for you. * * * I Just finished my Debut Album as Musical Monk, "The Spaces in Between," which will be released in Nov 2012. The album chronicles my past few years since moving to New York City, and features 8 incredible other musicians. * * * My music fuses funk, classic rock, Americana, New Orleans swank, jamband improv, reggae, ska, swing, blue grass, and jazz. Some of my biggest current influences include Prince, James Taylor, P Funk, Mumford & Suns, Norah Jones, Phish, and The Beatles. * * * Musical monk is a continuation of my effort to break through my artistic ego and identity and let all inhibition go. To disregard the urge to “entertain,” but rather sink deeper into myself and let my authentic love for music and life be seen. To share something real, raw and universal while enjoying every ever-present moment of it. * * * Otherwise, what more about me really matters?
