Minus Light

Minus Light is an American alternative avant-indie band formed in 2013 in Los Angeles, CA by Jeramy "Beardo" Gritter and Maxeene Davlin. The duo released their debut album, Minus Light, in March 2014. The album ranked highly on the Best of Bandcamp and has been featured on music blogs, including DrunkenWerewolf, FreeBikeValet and NME. Their music has been described as "a glorious concoction of atmospheric alt-rock and pop music" and "a wild mixture of experimental electronics, indie pop, alternative rock & all sorts of mambo jumbo musical genres." Drawing influence from the shoe-gaze category also, the pair look towards synth, guitar and drum machine to construct their sound, blending everything together in a lush wash of noise. Jeramy met Maxeene in 2012 while he was producing her former band, The Cheap Motels' first EP release. Jeramy was also working on his second record at the time, under the name Beardo. In the mix of finishing the two projects, he began writing these bizarre songs with Maxeene. The songs didn't fit for either of their projects, so they decided to form something new together. All the music they have made has been produced and recorded by Jeramy Gritter on vintage analogue equipment. Their self-titled debut was recorded at Germany Grey Studios in Los Angeles, CA and was released on March 13, 2014. Upon releasing their first single, Learning to Love, Minus Light has received a lot of buzz on numerous blogs as well as airplay on stations such as LA KXLU 88.9 and Philidelphia, PA based Gashouse Radio. The band is getting known for their music videos as well as their music. All the videos are very specialized, using Critter Guitari color machines and beta cameras from the 1980's. Minus Light released their first EP, Dragons Unicorns Devils and Wishes, in November 2014. The release has been well received and is available on cassette. The pair released their second full length record, FAME on Friday October 13th 2017 as well as a video for the title track. The record's pre release was met with an amazing interview in magazine Alt Citizen. The album took a lot of time to perfect using a multitude of analog gear, tape machines and the meeting of two minds but it is the magic that Beardo and Maxeene were looking to create. Jeramy "Beardo" Gritter is also currently playing lead guitar with Julian Casablancas + The Voidz.
