The Lost Wanderers

He told me that years earlier he had a home, a wife, and a job near Boston, but mental illness changed the course of his life. For years he wandered from town to town, following railroad tracks and using the I Ching and three pennies to decide where to go next. What stayed with me most was when he said that sometimes he dreams he is back home, sitting at the kitchen table with his wife, and for a moment everything feels normal again. I promised him I would write a song so his story would not be forgotten.
