Manuela Bravo

Este Bravo Que Sou is an album produced by Rogerio Ferreira and recorded by Richard Dvoracek. These are five selected tracks from it. Manuela Bravo is a Portuguese female artist, known for having represented Portugal at the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest after winning the Portuguese Song Contest with the song " Sobe, Sobe Balão Sobe" by Nobrega e Sousa, well-known Portuguese author. Manuela debuted in public when she was five in a children's competition held in the former Eden Cinema in Lisbon. Throughout her career, which began in 1973, she has worked with big names of the Portuguese music scene. Manuela has recorded in English including a version of the hit “Summertime” (1988). She successfully sang the most difficult fados of Amalia, as well as other fado singers, and dedicated an album to Coimbra fado, in 1996, in honour of her father, Loubet Bravo, a well-known interpreter. Manuela recorded the album with Antonio Pinho Brojo and his guitar quartet. Left without a manager, Manuela’s musical career came to a standstill with her divorce in 1999 as she used to be managed by her husband. She took part in the fado musical Amalia, by Filipe La Feria in that period for about a year. In a 2002 interview, Manuela talks about her plans to resume her music career with the release of a compilation of her best songs revived from vinyl recordings, one of these re-issues being Bravo, from the album Intentions, which came out in 1996. In 2004, Manuela records the compilation Este Bravo Que Sou (This Bravo I Am) produced by Rogerio Ferreira (The First Conception) with musical arrangements by her brother, Libanio Bravo, and Richard Dvoracek, guest Czech musician who co-produced, played on and recorded the album. The five-track selection presented here is part of that album including a new version of “Sobe, Sobe Balão Sobe". The CD was self-released. In 2005, Manuela takes part in the musical Cats, produced by Oscar Romero, where she plays the role of Grizabella singing her version of Memory. This is not an official page.
