LYRIC

Soulful, powerful voice, Leeda “Lyric” Jones, is Asheville, NC energetically summarized via music from her heart. The lighthouse effect Lyric emits transmutes energy and epitomizes hope throughout her soulful performances.

Shining familial light, her paternal grandfather, “Guitar Shorty,” played guitar for B.B. King. His son and Lyric’s father, Dave Matthews (yes, for real), continuously plays bass and laughs alongside her on stages.

Music ever present, it was not until 2008 when Lyric asked her dad for a guitar. A short time later, Pastor Anne Hartman shared her vision of  Lyric on stage with a guitar.

By 2009 she was busking on Asheville’s Streets, beginning her path. Then, along with other accolades, leading to consecutively winning copious awards in Asheville’s own, Mountain Xpress “Best-of”— most notably best vocalist. Since then, Lyric has shared stages with legendary greats such as Lizz Wright, Gladys Knight, George Clinton, Mavis Staples, Warren Haynes, and many others.

Roots long laid, history yet made. Lyric’s lighthouse effect radiates within each note.  Ask any fan or random patron to describe her— they will describe a legendary luminary.
