Keltic Knot

The founding members of Keltic Knot, Elisa and Joel Wren and Tim Snider, first began playing music together in 2010. All three members shared a passion for the richness and beauty of traditional Irish and Scottish music. Ripping through a fast Irish jig can get people clapping their hands and tapping their toes, while few forms of music are more haunting than a lament played on the Highland bagpipes. And there is nothing more lovely than a beautifully sung Irish air. This is the kind of music Keltic Knot wanted to bring to the people of the Ozarks. This trio first played in small coffee houses and in Irish pub session groups, joining with other musicians in playing Irish and Scottish songs on traditional Celtic instruments. Elisa played guitar and sang most of the songs, while Tim played a variety of stringed instruments including guitar, mandolin, and bass. Joel would either be playing bodhran, Irish whistle, Scottish smallpipes, or Highland bagpipes, and occasionally sing one of the Irish drinking songs. It became apparent very early on that Elisa’s voice was well suited to singing Celtic music. Even at the band’s very earliest performances, audiences were captivated by her rendition of slow Irish Airs, such as “Danny Boy”. Over time, Keltic Knot evolved to add contemporary songs to their set list, but always adding a touch of Celtic flare. The band now does covers of Irish groups such as The Cranberries, U2, and The Corrs. Not only has the band’s music evolved over time, the band itself has grown. During the past couple of years, percussion specialist, Zachary McMeley, has joined the band. Zach has been playing drums in bands since grade school in addition to playing in Kickapoo High School’s Marching Band and Drum Line. His special talents have greatly added to Keltic Knot’s sound. Most recently, violinist Karolina Fraczak has joined Keltic Knot. Karolina has been playing the violin since age 6 in Poland. In 2007, her family moved to the Springfield, Missouri. Her immense talents have raised the bar of Keltic Knot’s music. Keltic Knot now plays a wide variety of music and appeals to diverse audiences. You'll find young and old at a Keltic Knot gig.
