Kate Albright
Kate Albright has sung a variety of cover songs in various bands ranging in styles from Show to Pop to Rock to R&B. In the last three years, she has started writing and performing her own songs. Kate started singing at a very young age. Her mother wrote in her baby book that she "loves to sing" and "She sang with a clear tone of voice before she was three years old - all the latest hit tunes." Kate nearly drove her parents crazy by begging to take piano lessons. Once she started them though, she was a sponge. Music became her life. She achieved proficiency in piano and accompanied many a singer as well as being very active in choirs, and special vocal groups. She went on to receive a B.A. degree in Music with a focus in piano and voice. But she had always dreamt of singing on a stage someday ever since she was a little girl. Then one day, a friend told her about a show band that was looking for backup singers. Her dream came true. Kate made the cut. Her first band was being a backup singer in a show band - complete with choreography and costume changes. The bands that followed were smaller - mostly five-piece - and of the Pop, Rock, and R&B genres. The gigs were constant and she literally lived on the road for six out of the ten years she was in those bands. Kate honed her craft as a lead singer and sang a variety of cover songs from Whitney Houston to Bonnie Raitt to Heart. As much as Kate loves singing by belting out a rock song or creating a mood with a ballad, she discovered that the greatest thrill in performing was all about delivering the message itself through song - in other words, when the song touched someone. This is her focus when she creates her own songs - to somehow create messages that will touch a heart, lift a spirit, or state a truth.
