Josh Hughes

His music could be described as a mix between pop and rock with influences from the Goo Goo Dolls, Warren Haynes, and Eric Clapton. Hughes has incorporated unique sounds with modern and contemporary material subject matter and has the rare talent of being able to play by ear. Hughes started playing music in the sixth grade and writing songs his first year in high school. Hughes now currently plays every other Thursday at Aura lounge off the square in Murfreesboro, Tenn., where he has consistently attracted a large crowd. He has also previously played at previously named Bluesboro and Bluebird Café in Nashville during writer’s nights. He came to Middle Tennessee State University for the recording industry program; however, after going to school for three years, Hughes dropped out realizing he would hate working for a record company. He found himself skipping class to play music and not studying for exams because he would get an idea for a song and would not stop until he had successfully completed the idea. Hughes has always had a very supportive family when it came to his love for music and has never taken it for granted. He is a Ravens and Orioles fan, enjoys reading for knowledge, and wants to write and direct his own film one day. His debut record “Simply Regards” was released in 2007 and is available on iTunes for purchase. A demo recently recorded at Walnut House Studios in Murfreesboro, TN and was produced by the very talented Matthew Pramstaller.
