James Mercadel

James has created quite a music performance quilt. Each person he has performed with beginning from a teen-ager in New Orleans to where he is today has contributed to the patchwork of his musical quilt. "Chip" as he is affectionately called, has performed with some of the world's greatest musicians, Grammy winners and legends in the industry including; Denise LaSalle, Percy Sledge, Tina Turner, the Gap Band and more. Quite a few of the melodies and guitar licks coming from the Sounds of the Southern Soul singers were contributed by Mercadel including the late New Orleans Soul Diva, Jackie Neal. James will be on tour this summer with International performing artist, Diane Cameron Elam. One of the stops of the tour will include performances at the New Orleans based Cutting Edge Music Business Weekend at the Marriott in New Orleans, August 27 – 29. James and Cameron are currently working on a collaborative CD to be released in New Oreleans.
