UPTOWN BIOGRAPHY Uptown, is a musical group of two longtime friends, Kyle Duncan from Ntungamo and Remy Ratzy from Mbarara. The duo began their music and entertainment career at University alongside three other friends Angelina Angie, Nionzima Alex and Oscar in 2008 performing in various local shows and events where they grew up. The other three left the crew after recording their first two singles that did not manage to hit the airwaves. Remy Ratzy went through Kitabi Seminary where he led the school choir for 3 years, and was also a member of the school brass band. He learnt how to play tenor drums, trumpet and a French horn. He mimed songs of Justin Timberlake and Ginuwine his role models. He later joined Ntare School. As a teenager, Remy Ratzy was among a group of talented individuals at Mabrara Youth Center from where his talent was nurtured till his S.6 vacation 2007. While in his vacation, he did his debut production and recorded 2 singles “Njo tucheze and Tell me” before joining University to do Bsc Conservation Biology. Kyle Duncan started by miming songs of west life and Backstreet boys. He won most of the talent shows between different schools. He went to Mengo SS (YEAR 2006) and later joined Makerere Univeristy to do B Arts in Mass Com where he met Remy Ratzy. In 2009, despite high competition he won the “Road to Stardom” competition on Record TV. He has been in the limelight as a TV presenter of a music show at Urban TV for over a year. He has represented Uganda in the Big Brother Africa 7 stargame, which is still going on. Uptown´s Music is Afrocentric in that it combines their smooth R&B voices with western and African rhythms in creating a marvelous blend of R&B, Hip Hop and Dancehall songs. They have recorded a couple of songs in different studios like Urban Aksent, Fenon records and Hometunes Productions and worked with several producers like Don Balaam, Legend P, Levy on The Beat, Charlie King and Steve Jean. Uptown have established themselves as a strong R&B/Hip-Hop group in Uganda. Their latest single Facebook lover has shot them into prominence on the music scene. And they have been performing in many schools around Kampala.
