hOWIE aSKAY

Hello out there, my name is Howie Askay. I have been a singer, song writer, performer, musician.... bla bla bla for what seems like a thousand years. Lets just say since the age of 2ish. I grew up singing and harmonizing with my sister who is a year younger than me. Believe me there was a lot of competition with that girl. We challenged each other every day to be better than the day before. We started playing clubs in the Portland Oregon area when we were just little kids. We still continue to play together here and there for fun, it's like we can read each other's minds at times while were up on that stage and the music takes on a life of its own - which makes playing music mindless, if you know what I mean? My musical influences are very wide to say the least. I pretty much love and respect everything I hear. I believe song writers have something to say and I am hear to listen. I love The Beatles, Nirvana/Foo Fighters, Allen Holdsworth, Chet Atkins, Michael Jackson, Extreme/Nuno, Loretta Lynn, Uncle Teem and Paul, the Grease soundtrack and yes Barry Manalo...hehe. Everything is on my IPOD as you can tell. I am the lead sing for the greatest rock band in the world "Plain Jayne" and have been for almost 20 years. Ronnie, Dave and Ryan are my absolute favorite people to write with. Each one of them bring out the best in me as a performer and artist. We continue to work side by side on projects and business adventures every so often and keep each other within arms reach. Since Plain Jayne has ventured out to live life a little bit, I have been keeping busy. Lets see I've been raising a family, being a husband to my best friend Lisa who is everything to me and writing/recording/producing music. I play out live here and there about once a month to keep the dust off my fingers and to get rid of that itch that keeps telling me to get the guys back on the road. Now is not the time for that, so you can find me in a local hang out every once in a while. So, I hope you enjoy this little project I've been keeping busy with.
