Gringo Sapiens

Gringo Sapiens, a musical organization or, perhaps, a band of three artists from Wichita, Kansas, is a unique experimentation of rock improvisation. The three of us have heard a lot of music, made both locally and elsewhere, and over time we have found two things: first, the way that we want to affect an audience that hears us is to be both memorable and thought-provoking; second, if there were a specific philosophy that a musical artist could adopt that would be the best way to be both memorable and thought-provoking, that philosophy will require three consistent ideals of musical performance at the very least: strong clarity of vocal lyrics, exceptional entertainment value of lyrics, and exceptional entertainment value of played music. Gringo Sapiens is constructed to revolve around these three ideals. The entertainment value, which is often a matter of opinion anyway, is therefore only what is entertaining to us. Another interesting part of our philosophy is that we are strictly Jam Rock, meaning that everything we play was originally an improv jam session (including lyrics) and is generally played from only a rough blueprint each time. We just said, "let's jam!" and somehow, a new song came to be born instantly. So, our lyrical ideas are often wacky, over-imaginative fantasies about everyday life that we usually find hilarious every time, but many audience members have disagreed with songs glorifying drug use, firing handguns, misappropriation of police resources, insulting overpaid white-collars, and various other interesting life observations; the strong vocal clarity often elicits immediate reactions that tend to form a more comedy-act-type of bond with the audience that is rare among musical acts today, we have found. What all of this means is that attending a Gringo Sapiens concert is going to be attention-grabbing, memorable adult fun that is VERY VERY R-RATED. The genre is Wichita Satirical Jam Rock.
