General Bus is a collaboration between Paul Nicholson (vocals, guitar, songwriter) and Michael Searl (bass, percussion) with Mike Rowlands (alto sax). Robin Fiedler (harmonies on Thank You All), Carla Drayton (incidental vocals on Perfect Day) All songs originals except covers of: My Head Is My Only House - Captain Beefheart Suzanne - John Martyn Buckets Of Rain - Bob Dylan Broken Stones - Paul Weller General Bus as a name came about as a mishearing of one line in the lyrics to Captain Beefheart's 'My Head Is My Only House' (from the album Clear Spot). "I'll let a train be my feet if it's too far to walk to you If a train don't go there I'll get a jet or a bus" So "jet or a bus" became "General Bus" which had immediate associations - Greyhound buses rolling along endless highways, being open to new sounds and constructions and to fellow travelers - don't need to discuss much, just hop on the bus, Gus ...
