Flower Hill String Band

The FLOWER HILL STRING BAND serves up a tasty menu of soul-satisfying classic bluegrass and contemporary acoustic music—featuring rich three, four, and five-part vocals—for a family-friendly good time. You’re likely to hear a familiar Celtic, old-time, or traditional gospel tune, as well as a country song or two. Plus a few modern pop-rock numbers done FHSB style. Hailing from Gaithersburg, MD, the Flower Hill String Band takes its name from the local neighborhood where the group was cooked up. Performing together for more than a dozen years, the band features several young adults as well as a few "well-seasoned" members: David Adams (banjo) with his daughters Melissa (fiddle and vocals) and Heather (vocals) create the core of the ensemble. Mike Garris provides rhythm guitar and vocals, while John Relph (mandolin) and Glen Flowers (bass and vocals) round out the group. Over the years, the line-up has included Betsy Garris (lead vocals), Mikey Ambrosino (lead guitar and vocals), Jeff Herbert (guitar and vocals) and an assortment of mandolin artists, including Ben Somerville, Alexander Mitchell and Tom Mindte.
