Efraín Amaya

American composer and conductor Efraín Amaya was born in Venezuela, where he began his musical training. Continuing his studies in the United States, he earned degrees in composition and piano from the University of Indiana and a master’s degree in conducting from Rice University. Efraín Amaya received a 2004 Fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and was a Meet The Composer Composer-in-Residence possible by Meet The Composer, Inc. His music can be hear Élan Recordings and Albany Records. Mr. Amaya is the founder and Music Director of the Point Chamber Orchestra as well as the Music Director of Pennsylvania Dance Theater.
