Duo Beija-Flor

Guitarist Charles Hobson and flutist Marie-Noëlle Choquette form Duo Beija-Flor, an award-winning ensemble redefining the flute and guitar repertoire. Celebrated for innovative programming and a modern, audience-centred concert experience, the duo weaves classical masterworks with music inspired by cultures from around the globe, revealing universal emotions through a vibrant cross-cultural lens. Praised by The Flute View (San Francisco) as “an incredibly dynamic and creative team,” and recognized by Flute Quarterly (USA) for their “masterful arrangements,” Duo Beija-Flor is acclaimed as much for virtuosity and expressive depth as for their distinctive artistic voice. Since their debut in 2011, they have performed hundreds of concerts across Canada, the United States, and Central and South America. The duo has released three critically acclaimed albums and received numerous awards and grants. Recent touring engagements include Canadian national tours with Prairie Debut (2021–22) and Debut Atlantic (2024–25).
