Douglas Chay

Chay was part of the Columbia, SC music scene from the mid '80s to the mid '90s playing live, DJ'ing at WUSC-FM, writing and recording both solo and with a band. He received airplay on radio stations throughout the US and Canada including on the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company), CJIV (British Columbia), KPFK (Los Angeles), WERU (Maine), KUCA (Arkansas), WFMU (New Jersey), WBER (New York) and WUSC (South Carolina), where he worked as a DJ. He performed live at various venues in Columbia, opening for a diverse array of bands including Flaming Lips, American Music Club and The Connells. He appeared on several compilation albums, including Another Pesky Compilation Album. "I Want to Vacuum" was featured on 3 Minute Revolution (RPM Records, 1996). He covered Klaatu's "Anus of Uranus" on their band-sanctioned tribute CD Around the Universe in 80 Minutes (Bullseye of Canada, 1999), and contributed a feedback-drenched version of "Give a Little Love" on The Bay City Rollers tribute CD, Men In Plaid (Bullseye of Canada, 2004). In 1992, he started a band, Deal Box, contributing a track, "Flying a Plane" to the album Please No Profanity (1992).
