DivAmelia

Amelia has shown a love for performance art since she was little & participated enthusiastically in many forms of entertainment. She majored in Drama at an Arts high school & went onto studying Musical Theatre. After a few musicals & extra work on film & TV, being a background vocalist in a few bands, even presenting the odd Karaoke show – she left for a lengthy singing stint in Japan. After nearly five years of contract singing in Japan, Amelia moved to Sydney to try to break into the industry here. Almost immediately, she won an audition to front all girl cover band, Urban Angels. They were on and off the covers circuit for a couple of years, then reborn as the all-original HEROINE. Having recorded a six track EP and played at most of the original music venues in Sydney – they have now taken a much-deserved break. Although she loves rocking out with a band, she always seems to find herself back at her theatrical roots, singing with big bands and orchestras. Amelia is also well known on the Charity scene, in Sydney as well as in Melbourne and Auckland. Singing 5-10m high on a Bosun’s swing trapeze in Melbourne's Crown Casino Palladium, Moulin Rouge style, she opened the show at 2004’s Red Ball. It is an annual event to raise money for the Bone Marrow Donor Institute & headlining was Australia's own Hugh Jackman. She has also graced Sydney’s Superdome and Town Hall as Australia’s number one aerial showgirl. Apart from her charity, band and studio work, Amelia has been freelancing & customises her performances to suit your needs. Anything from smoky solo work, small acoustic line-ups, full bands, orchestral work, live accompaniment of a DJ.. – or something completely unique for that left-of-centre vision!
