cHaD.
cHaD. was born April 27, 1992, the son of Sheila and Magic Charles in Charity Hospital (which is no longer running due to Katrina) in New Orleans,LA. Growing up in the impoverished 17th Ward of New Orleans, he was inspired to start writing about his pain & the detrimental conditions of his neighborhood. With artists like Master P, The Hot Boys, & Louis Armstrong, it’s no secret that New Orleans has a deep and rich history of music culture. cHaD., one half of the New Orleans based music group I-AN-I, is the next in line to carry on the rich tradition of New Orleans musicianship. As an independent artist, JAHovah, in the past two years has amassed over 50,000 views on YouTube and released four mixtapes with over 10,000 views on Datpiff.com alone. With these types of numbers with little to no promotion other than his self and the word of mouth of his fans, it’s clear to see why that prediction is not outlandish in nature. Letting his music speak for itself is what cHaD. prides his self on, and this was never more apparent than when I-AN-I released their second mixtape entitled Purple Reign. Purple Reign was released the week before cHaD. left for Atlanta, Georgia to attend Morehouse College in the fall of 2010. The tape garnered cHaD. and long time producer Juan radio play and broaden the duo’s reach and fan base. Upon cHaD.’s return to New Orleans his buzz was bigger than ever and set the stage for the group’s next release, Free Love in the summer of 2011. With a gift for being able to capture the tumultuous condition of New Orleans with a flare and raw grit that hip hop storytellers before him such as Biggie Smalls and Nas did for their burrows, cHaD. has released three more projects: Conquering Lion, soulJAH, & JAH Bless 50 N.I.G.G.A.$
