Brand New Key

Brand New Key began as a duo in 2013 when Texas songwriters Amy Moreland (Darling New Neighbors) and Jack Kaulfus teamed up to harmonize on one another’s original bluegrass numbers. Jill Csekitz (Fingerpistol) joined on as a percussionist and completely transformed the sound of the band with her cajon. In 2014, Oklahoma native Julie Shipp (Bitterheart Society) brought her stand-up bass into the mix, and the quartet recorded their debut album End of the Story with Ryan Young at Suite 2E Studios in Austin. Since the album recording, the band has added second percussionist Ashley Welch. Debut album End of the Story is a layered, emotionally rich collection of Americana originals with roots in bluegrass, country, and folk. Since 2013, the band has entertained a multitude of Austin fans with their danceable bluegrass tunes, textured instrumentals, and self-assured songwriting. The album is available to buy as a CD or to stream or download on itunes, Spotify, Google Play, Tidal, and other streaming services. End of the Story consists of 9 original songs written by Amy Moreland and Jack Kaulfus, and 2 covers. The original songs range from straight bluegrass (Snake Charmer) to country (I Get By) to Americana (End of the Story).
