Born Again Savages

The line-up is: Joe DiRienzo - Guitar Tom Carpenter - Vocals Illin - Drums John Thomas - Bass, backing Vocals Nathan Angell - Guitar The band is tight and guitar driven, while loosely badgering the listener's intellect. The stories are true, only the attitudes have been adjusted. The band doesn't like to be pigeon-holed into a genre, punk is too general, as is rock...the band is Hard Rock, and Punk Rock...just heavy and in your face. In 2014, the band opened up for Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine. That show garnered the interest of Jello, and Alternative Tentacles records. Jello is quoted from the stage: "You are lucky to have a band like Born Again Savages in your town, pioneering their own genre"! It was decided then, to record a few songs that hadn't seen proper studio time, as well as pen a few new songs. This ten song CD will be released on 9/26/15 at The Lost Horizon in Syracuse, NY. Here is a review circa 1995/1996 or so: "The Sound of The American Dream Being Utterly Blown to Bits. A quartet with screaming guitar, brutal drums, heavy bass and a crazed lead vocalist, the band's creedo is "Louder is Better!" It is tempting to lump this group on the trashheap of shock-schlock, but the Savages' songs are simply better. Their twisted, often disturbing lyrics are served up with a side of Humor Noir that sets them apart from other nihilistic bands of the Punk genre. * Tom "The Sarge" Carpenter's lyrics and delivery are filled with passion - bent and twisted passion, but real passion nonetheless. His scathing social commentary, and imposing stage presence make him the perfect frontman for the Savage's sonic whirlpool. * Joe DiRienzo is one of the best guitarists in Syracuse, equally capable of playing a simple, fat fill or creating an electric hailstorm. More importantly, he knows when to use them. DiRienzo's mix of abstract expressionism and futurism allows The Sarge plenty of sonic space to vent while still providing leads that rival The Stooges in intensity. * Bassist John Thomas and drummer I. M. illin' provide the heavy foundation that supports the musings of The Sarge and DiRienzo."
