Stripped down with just a black Acoustic Ibanez and his melancholic moderately high tenor voice, Ben Burn's songs merge the political with the personal in folksy rebellious songs about unrequited love, political corruption, mental illness, greed, inequality and a meticulous self-reflection as a gambling shape shifting troubadour.
His protest song "NYC Circa 2006" was once listed on Neil Young's website, "Living with War Today".
If you ask him, he’ll say he is just a vessel--an amalgam of his musical heroes, most notably Mark Knopfler, Lou Reed, and Bob Dylan. Like Mark Knopfler, Ben Burn is left handed, but learned to play the guitar right handed and barely uses a pick, preferring a roughshod picking style, with psychedelic reverb.
His passion for music is shaped by wanderlust and a desire to collaborate with some of his favorite artists working today. Reclusive, mercurial and enigmatic, Ben Burn may be far from a household name, but once you've seen him live, you won't forget him.
