Inspired by Jazz, Funk, R&B and Soul, Band of Roses promises to deliver a unique style that transcends the norm. Her sound is cultivated by smooth, yet powerful vocals paired with fierce and dynamic musicianship from some of the DMV area's most gifted, skilled and talented female instrumentalist. Originally assembled in 2012 for a one-time performance; by overwhelming demand, revamped and reintroduced as a viable, formidable unit in 2015, the Band Of Roses quickly and continues to establish themselves as one of the DMV's most reputable, sought after all-female Jazz, Soul, Funk and R&B bands, and are rapidly gaining recognition locally and abroad. The band boasts beauty as well as excellent musicianship, an explosive stage presence, and a lively, dynamic stage show. The Band Of Roses are highly trained professionals with diversified musical backgrounds ranging from orchestral and musical theater to Gospel, Jazz, Rock, Funk and R&B. The band and it's members have performed locally, toured nationally and internationally with legendary and highly acclaimed musical talent to include: Patti LaBelle, Musiq Soulchild, Parliament Funkadelic's Original "Sir Nose" and Carolyn Malachi to name a few. The full line-up consist of the band's Music Director Deanna Hawkins on keys, Rashida “Reo-Soul” Olley, Carmen Craven, and Lauren White on vocals, Erica “Ediddy” Waters on drums, Sharon Thomas on Sax, Mary "M-Law" on trumpet, “Genny Jam” on guitar, Asha Santee" on percussion, and Candra Rutledge on bass. Band of Roses is not only a musician collective, but a skilled group of women that are constantly paving the way for up -and-coming artists and musicians today, and generations to come. As we invidually share our talents and experiences as teachers and mentors in our communities, churches and schools, mentoring as a whole has become a common goal.
