Your relationship has blossomed. You love the slumber parties. You have gone on vacation together. You now have a good sense of who he is. Your professional life continues to thrive and grow. It is time to check in with your Dear God Letter and evaluate how you're enjoying the relationship and how it's serving you and your new man. To have it all, the incredible man, the brilliant career and the life you want, you might have to set up some new routines. This is what you've asked for, so embrace the change. Start to picture how you want your work life and relationship life to work together. Become the master of your time so you'll be able to enjoy the life you want. Think about some new disciplines so you can maximize every opportunity. Be willing to endure some short-term discomfort as an investment in your long-term dream relationship. Reevaluate and reprioritize what's important to you to get the life you want. Refer to your Dear God Letter for guidance and to remind you about what you feel is important. It is sometimes hard to distinguish between your must have, would like, and dream traits. Here are some examples of when you may want to rethink what the true balance is for you: Example #1: Living in different states. You met him. He's incredible. You're checking off all the qualities that match your Dear God Letter. The only foreseeable problem is he doesn't live in your state. Under "would like" traits on your Dear God Letter you wrote "lives in the same state." So now what? Do you say forget it or do you find a way? This might be one of those qualities that you are able to live with. If it's the right person, give up wanting to live in the same place and find a way to make it work. This is something that you can make work. You might have had a different picture in your head of where you were going to live and how things would work, logistically. You can find the balance with the right person. Example #2: Marriage verses longtime commitment. You may have pictured your wedding for as long as you can remember but your man doesn't feel getting married is in his future. He wants to be with you forever and believes in monogamy. He wants a committed relationship-he just doesn't need the marriage certificate. Now is the time to ask yourself if this is a deal breaker. Is being with him without the wedding ceremony going to be enough for you? Are you willing to give up the wedding and marriage to be with the man of your dreams? You make the call. Example #3: What about children? Many women struggle with whether they want to have children and if the man they meet doesn't want them. This can be a big concern for women, especially if they have dreamed of having the experience of being a mom. Be clear about what is most important to you. For some women, it will be a deal breaker if he doesn't want children. If this is true for you, then be respectful and let him know this up front. This way, you can determine whether you and he want to invest more time in building the relationship. If you decide that it's more important to be with the man you're falling for than to have children, make this decision about you, not him. You have to prioritize what life experience you want to have: building the relationship with him or choosing not to be with him and having the experience of raising children on your own or with another man. Whatever you choose, select the option that you feel provides balance in your life. These are only some examples of situations to think about and discuss with him. Be open, express yourself clearly and get what you want. "It's Your Time to Have It All"
