(b.1984 - ) in Detroit,MI, he is an African-American/Samoan - singer/ rapper/ songwriter/ dancer/ model/ actor/ author & philosopher Born: Charles-Jerome Lewis in the Michigan inner city of Detroit, AseNVi (pronounced ACE-ENVY & often stylized as "AseNV!"), entered cyphers rapping, a struggle dramatized in the fictionalized rapid, fluid, dexterous, and unpredictable, as capable of pulling off long-form narrative as he was delivering a withering aside, yet shying away from singing in which became more popular for him late middle-school/ early high-school year, he struggled to be noticed for his gift at both. His personal life's paranoia was often depicted in the lyrics his music conjured, and to be certain, a great deal of the controversy he courted. During the turn of the millennium, through his peers it was sought that there was no greater underrated cultural underdog than the MC/Singer, AseNVi himself. His music often came through in how his violent fantasias, often directed at his past-tortures to the relationships between him & his mother and/or his then girlfriend-soon-to-be child's mother, intertwined with flights of absurdity that appealed to listeners too narrow-minded to absorb the psychodramas AseNVi explored in his rhymes channeling his 'MC' side with the likes of his hometown idol, Eminem. Initially, the predominantly women audience he won over with his popular singing voice didn’t embrace the 'MC' side of AseNVi but, but it soon gained him a reputation with those who knew him best, and he was recruited to join a few singing groups, living up to the role as one of the lead vocalists 1999-2006. Within that time frame, Lewis soon began to establish another alter ego, a persona that freed him to dig deep into his dark id, something he needed as he faced a number of personal upheavals. All this steam and rage was channeled positively into his successful local-based group & their music which is where he first demonstrated many of the quirks that became his trademark, including his twitchy, nasal rhyming and disturbingly violent imagery when rapping & his soulful crooning voice when singing. Some of his early group experiences opened many doors, the most notable of them being a contract with ActiVOTE America Inc.; a non-profit voting organization which was preceded by its theme song "You Gotta Choose" which went gold. After years of work, longtime collaborators, ex-group members, & cousins AseNVi & Chris October (formally known as Keyshaun) teamed with family rivals; Logan & Brazill to become "Status B.L.A.K.". Lewis felt compelled & capitalized on his forward momentum by crossing over into stage play & film. The group propelled at cross-over success & media mainstream such as B.E.T.'s "Blaze The Sage" winning 3rd in R&B category, B.E.T.'s 106 & Park "Wild Out Wednesdays", & America's Got Talent (2011 Season). In 2011, the group quietly disbanded after 5 years, which pushed C.J. "AseNVi" Lewis & Chris "Chris October" Staley to solo discoveries. AseNVi reached out to his brother, 'Mitch Hennessy', for the 2011 release of his debut solo mixtape entitled 'DECODED', which alluded some of Lewis' past & present struggles through rhyme & folklore. It has since earned him praise & recognition as a solified MC & phenomenal singer. Lewis aside from his solo duties, he had a 1 year stint performing as lead singer in the self-proclaimed 'space fuck' group, O.T.I.S. (Out There In Space) 2011-2012 based out of Michigan. In July 2013 Lewis and Delina Coleman welcomed their son, Caiden Amere Lewis into the world. AseNVi continues to reinvent his sound & solo efforts in due time in an attempt to unite with a collective, under his brand: The Cabinet Administration. To call AseNVi R&B is correct to a degree, but it's largely inaccurate. Certainly, AseNVi first began his career singing, but he began rapping also to garner both sales with Hip-Hop & R&B fans alike and critical respect, but his impact exceeded this confining distinction. On sheer verbal & creative skills, AseNVi sites himself one of the greatest MC/Singers of his generation, awaiting to be heard.
