Alysha Brilla

Alysha Brilla is a critically acclaimed Tanzanian-Canadian singer and songwriter known for her eclectic mix jazz, world and pop. Brilla performs on both guitar and piano. Her playful lyrics and on stage banter have garnered the attention of audiences internationally. The 2012 Leading Edge Arts Award winner has performed live at The Montreal Jazz Festival, The Mariposa Folk Festival and CBC Radio. Brilla is currently producing her second full-length album to be released April 2013 with the help of The Brilltones, her jazz band with whom she shared a residency at Toronto’s premiere music venue, “The Reservoir Lounge”, before beggining to tour. Alysha Brilla’s song “Lifted” was featured on the television show “Degrassi; The Next Generation”, with other songs becoming a staple on showcase network’s television series “King”. U.K. award winning multi-disciplinary artist Luke Jerram featured Alysha Brilla in a video of her playing his installation street piano in Toronto for “Play Me, I’m Yours”.
