Alan Heart

Born in Quebec city, Canada, Alan Heart always knew music would be a big part of his life. However, his date with the music world would have to wait… The fact that both Alan’s parents grew up in poverty but achieved great careers through education meant that studies outside the classical fields of education were not allowed for any of their five children. It could not even be considered as a serious topic for discussion in the Heart family. Adding the fact that Alan was a boy who needed to keep busy to stay out of trouble, his parents were convinced a classic education in a private school was the best thing for him. He attended everyday, got good grades, but he could never find his calling outside of music. This is why after high school, he enrolled in a one year foreign exchange student program with AFS (American Field Service) and went to Venezuela to broaden his horizons. In Venezuela, he learned Spanish and became an adult. But most importantly, he discovered live music at a scale he could have never imagined. Music everywhere. Soon he could not stop going out and watch the horn players bring him into another world. It was a great time for him and this was the place where he discovered his desire to travel the world. However, after one year away from home, he came back still confused about what he wanted to do with his life. He started attending college and was bored to the limit. That’s when he discovered Hang-gliding. Being a man who needed to keep his mind and his body busy, this was a great sport. He started devoting all of his spare time to it. He felt as one with nature when he was able to fly among birds. He felt as one of them. He became really good at the sport and while attending an expert’s class, he came across an old airline pilot who’s stories where very appealing to him. Alan then looked at the possibility of becoming an airline pilot. It was the first time he had considered anything else than music as a career but he felt he would make his parents proud and finally, he would get to live his dream and travel the world. Alan came home from the class and told his parents how impressed he was with the old airline pilot stories. He then asked them if they would consider it a respectable career for him. They told him yes. He was so happy to have finally found a way to make his parents happy, he started devoting all of his time to his pilot training and within a year, he was working in the airline industry. It was the start of a great career. He started out as a flight instructor in a small flight school and became captain of a small twin-engine airplane within a year. He did aerial survey for four years and then was hired by Air Inuit, providing service to the Canadian native communities. He worked with them for eight years. Building a great reputation as a pilot and becoming a great flight instructor. But towards the end, his passion for music became too strong. So, once again, he started using all of his spare time and devoted it to music. He felt the need to write the music that was playing inside his head. His need to travel the world was also strong. He decided to apply for work in Japan to travel all of Asia. But everyday, he would wake-up early or go to bed late so that he could rehearse or write new lyrics for his songs. At some point, he got ready and decided it was time to find out if he was any good. He sent the second song he wrote (Latcer Dream), to the international “Song of The Year” Music contest based in the USA to see their reaction to his music. He became finalist to win the award and realised that, he was not like those crazy contestants on American Idol who believe they got it when they don’t, but that his dream, was alive. He started to go into recording studios. Not only to make records but also to gain the experience he felt would be needed some day. He recorded an “EP” at Euphonic recording studio, Toronto under the alias “Latcer”. The “EP” never made it to the commercial level, as it was planned as an “experience builder”. He did this for 5 years and, after his mother had a major stroke, he decided to come back to Canada to continue his career. He came back and worked for about a year… Before disaster stroke. He had just finished training the pilots for a new airline in Canada when he got offered a job in Africa. This was his dream. He got the job interview, he got the job, but when he went for the medical check-up… Everything went wrong… He was diagnosed with having had a major heart attack about one year prior. The exact time when he thought he had had a really bad food poisoning. This meant his career as a pilot was over, and more… After a few months, he ran out of money and was forced to live in the streets. He asked his parents if he could live with them. Out of mercy, they said yes. And that was the beginning of a new adventure. After accepting the fact that his life would never be the same and that his situation had affected his parents to the point where they would even consider music as legitimate work, Alan decided to get back to his life’s passion: Music. He attended school to obtain a diploma on “How to start a business in the music industry”. This is where he found the people that would help him take his music further. His teacher listened to his demo tape and told him he would like to help. He introduced Alan Heart to Peakafeller, an electronic DJ who is also a studio director as well as a studio owner. They got along great from the first day and started working together in 2015 to make Alan Heart’s first album, “My Time”. The Pop/Rock album reflecting Alan’s musical influence from traveling the world was released in June 2016. It became the building block to the Holographic concert experience "H.E.A.R.T. Project". A mixture of music, lighting and holograms that will hit the road in 2018. Keep an eye open for this completely unique concert experience !!
