Aishya

Aishya is an R&B/Soul/Pop singer and songwriter, born and raised in the small Middle Eastern country of Kuwait. Her soulful vocals, power and passion in her performance will turn anyone into a fan. The vulnerability and depth in her lyrics will speak to you, and make you feel every syllable of emotion. In Texas, Aishya and her twin sister, Sharifa formed a singing duo called Odyssey. They performed original songs at numerous local venues, won talent showcases, and performed the national anthem at major local sporting events. Odyssey joined forces with NBA Spurs player and aspiring rapper at the time, Tony Parker, to work on their album and tracks on his upcoming album. They also worked with local music producers, including San Antonio's Greg G, to complete their first demo. Since graduating with her BBA in Economics, Aishya decided to go solo and moved to Miami to test the waters. She auditioned for American Idol Season 10, and advanced to Hollywood week, top 150 people. Along with working on songwriting projects for other artists, Aishya currently performs weekly anywhere from Fort Lauderdale to South Beach with "The Old Edition," a popular local Miami band. Inspired by her African American mother, a local and radio vocalist, and her supportive Kuwaiti father, she developed her love for singing at the age of 8. The girls religiously listened to their parents’ vast music collection of old school, Motown, R&B, and Arabic tunes, as they credit their mother and Mariah Carey as their main inspirations. Aishya’s musical journey began at the age of 15, when her mother took her to the studio for the first time to record just for fun. It was there that she discovered the power of her voice and her lifelong dream of becoming a singer. She soon discovered poetry, which inspired her to start writing her own lyrics. She was later asked to join a rising English singing group in Kuwait as the sole female singer/songwriter and completed two albums with them. She soon joined forces with her sister, Sharifa, and received singing recognition in Egypt and Bahrain. A week before leaving for college, Aishya was offered a record deal as the first English singer at a major record label in Kuwait. She decided, instead, to achieve her BBA in Economics at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and further pursue her music dreams in the U.S. With her growing success in Miami, Aishya continues to work on her solo album, write songs, and perform weekly with The Old Edition. Her voice captures her fans and invites them on a journey of different emotions. Her goal is to become a professional singer and songwriter and create a platform for people who dare to be fearless, true, and follow their bliss. As Aishya would quote, in the words of Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
