Northeast Flow, formally northeast funk, Has entered into a new era. We have Partnered up with Rochester's own vocal sensation, Jamall Youngblood. With Jamall bringing has smooth, sexy, sophisticated vocals, it makes for an experience you don't want to miss. Northeast Flow is a blend beyond happen stance of musicians local to the Rochester NY area, each part bringing an incredible background in funk, jazz and blues; yet the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. In alphabetical order: Glenn Beard (Bass) - was born into a rich blues legacy as he is the nephew of blues legend Joe Beard. He’s a self-taught bassist influenced by his Uncle Joe Beard and Cousin Chris Beard. He played in a Rochester based R&B band in the 80s called "Jade" which featured Rose, presently Lady Rose of the "Lady Rose Band" and Mitty Moore of "Mitty & The Followers". Glenn also co-founded a local band, "Funk in The Box", in 2011. Lady Shayla (Vocals)- was born into gospel music, many years.Under the leadership & founder of the Late William Flagler, known as The Flagler spiritual singers."20+yrs, Her passion for R&B old school took her on many ventures to sing with various groups within the Rochester area (Unknown funk) and (Diverse soul). Her desire to sing Gospel arose again she became the manager/booking for the Flaglers Singers for sevens years. Shayla's passion to sing R&B she was introduced to NEF, She is a cross between Chaka Khan and Anita Baker and fully capable of "bringing it" to the stage in just a short while she has completely stunned and wowed audiences leaving them wanting more. Chuck Davis (Drums) - Chuck hails from Pittsburg PA, home of doo-wop. Inspired by his older brother James who is a great drummer and percussionist himself; Chuck began playing drums at age 11 and after 3 years of wood shedding and drum lessons for rudiments, formed the CP BAND, his 1st band, with the help of his friends, Derek, Rick, Keith, Chipper, Rhonda, and Christine. He remained with the band for 10yrs while also playing in church and with various bands and musicians before meeting his wife and relocating to Rochester New York in 1988. There, he began playing drums in church and started a family. From this union came 3 wonderful and talented children. He met bassist Glenn Beard and began playing drums for a band called Funk in The Box. Aaron, Chuck’s oldest son, joined the band funking things up at various functions before moving on to current funk institution, N.E.F. (Northeast Funk); formerly known as Diverse Threads. Chuck also plays drums for Compromise, a vocal R&B band local to the Rochester area. Larry Singleton (Keys) - Larry started playing when he was 16 years old is a self-taught musician. He took classical and jazz piano, and music theory lessons at Hochstein School of Music. His mentors were Marvin Lester (a local musician), Minister Thomas Whitfield (Detroit), Professor Wilber Belton (Washington, DC), and the Uncle of Tye Tribbett with whom he played. Larry currently plays with Northeast Funk, and Compromise. He not only enjoys playing with them but considers them as family. Currently Larry plays, and owns a Hammond Organ, Yamaha Motif, Nord, Electro 73, and he currently has a 73 Fender Rhodes from his mom which he has had since the age of 16.
