LA ROKA NYC also known as Ana Rokafella Garcia began to sing in theater plays for Full Circle Productions in 1999 and incorporate her poetry and rhymes as interlude between pieces. She began to record music for local MC's and eventually began to write her own songs. Having been included in a music anthology cd for Armand van Helden she started to perform solo at open mics with instrumental cd's. In July 2007, a downtown bar/lounge asked her to perform with an acoustic set up and so began the 'Revolutions Per Minute' chapter with love, soul and Latin'isms based around Breakbeat dance music. They performed at De Paul University, Wave Hill, Lincoln Center, The Bronx Museum and for the 2010 Puerto Rican day festival on 116st NYC for its 25th Anniversary with a set infused with Afro Latin elements. La Roka NYC is world renowned for her Break dance mastery and for representing women in Hip-hop as well as always bringing self love as a triumphant message to the global community of freedom seekers! Whether covering Break beat anthems with DJ KS 360 or creating eclectic dance music with the help of musicians or beat masters in the studio, La Roka' s creative scope is endless.. La Roka performs solo or with a band alongside accompanied by dancers bringing an infectious, classic and motivational vibe to the show. Her first music video "Venus is Running" was shot in 2013 at Joloff's in Brooklyn and her second video for Rok With it --- a collaboration with DJ Lato during her stay in Italy 2014 was shot at Camarada's in El Barrio. In 2023 she premiered an electro funk style anthem "Beauty Meets Beast" sharing the strength of a woman regardless of the situation. Excited to collaborate with Ohio based DJ Forrest Get Em Gump, she recorded Today's the Day house song which she performed recently at the Afro Latino Festival in Harlem.
