Jeffrey McKinney

Jeffrey McKinney models his music after the late artist such as Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Donnie Hathaway and female jazz greats Phyllis Hyman and Minnie Repletion, who were all spiritual and secular in their music approach. His music mentor is Stevie Wonder and his spiritual mentor from beyond is the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Jeffrey McKinney tries to bring not only something old to the music scene, but also something fresh, new, original and exciting if not moving and healing to every composition he creates. He is also a poet and writer and hopes to have several books published eventually but music comes first. Jeffrey has gotten critical acclaim from Jazz artist of today and yesterday. He has worked alone since the dismantle of the group “Quest” a cover band he worked with in the early and mid 1980s, but many artist compliment him on his individual instrumental parts because though computer and keyboard generated for the most part, the instrumentation many times is true to the complexity of many of the great jazz artist of the past such as Jimmy Smith on organ, Charles Mingus on base, and Miles Davis on trumpet. Bernadette Stanus, from the ICON 70s hit TV show Goodtimes, simply calls Jeffrey, THE BEST. Jeffrey's first album was a gospel album called "Family", his "Lifetime and Forever" album is an album of love, pain and joy along with many other emotions that come with the common human experience we call love. Jeffrey became a part of the online community in spring of 2007 and has since gained critical acclaim from artist such as Chaka Khan. His latest release is called "A Cool Love a Cool Breeze" it is now available on most online retail outlets.
