This sums up the approach of Vancouver-based studio engineer Delwyn Brooks, which has continued to make him an invaluable studio resource for over 25 years. In 1986, Delwyn started at the notable Little Mountain Sound Studios Vancouver; breeding ground for many of the biggest acts, as well as producers/engineers/technical team Bob Rock, Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Coverdale-Page), the late Bruce Fairbairn (Cranberries, Chicago, INXS, Van Halen) and the late John Vrtacic & Ron Obvious; ‘Technical Directors’ for Studios Little Mountain Sound, The Warehouse, & The Armoury. Within Little Mountain’s regimented culture, he singles out Fairbairn and Fraser as key influences, recalling, "they would insist that as second engineers we take meticulous notes and details, ensuring to stay organized, on schedule, and under budget. As Delwyn's studio expertise deepened he moved into the specialized field of mixing, while his skills as a recording engineer and co-producer continued to be an asset. Working out of various international studios such as Little Mountain Sound Canada, Abby Road London UK, Criteria Studios Florida USA, Blackbird and Oceanway Studios Nashville USA, Delwyn has gained invaluable experience and when required, employ’s local studios The Warehouse, and The Armoury, as well as his personal mixing room where his clients have stated they feel the most at home. Modern recording technology has encouraged a 'Do It Yourself' approach for many artists, but calling in a professional can pay huge dividends resulting in a project going from good to great. Delwyn and his wife Julie live in British Columbia Canada, and while his passion for the recording/mixing process burns bright, he continues to prioritize his commitments to his family, requiring the consultation of a personal mentor & business development coach into uncharted phases of life.
