Dan Perkins

Entertainer: singer/songwriter (BMI), guitarist & harmonica player, Johnson City, TN. All lyrics, vocals and instruments by Dan Perkins. Born into poverty, Dan found an escape by developing an early interest in music when a cousin gave him a cheap guitar. After working his way through high school, Dan borrowed money and worked his way through college, graduating from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN. Dan returned to his hometown of Grundy, Virginia, and became a teacher. He left teaching to pursue a career in coal mining. Throughout his career moves, Dan played with his band in clubs, festivals and county fairs. Dan was the lead singer and guitarist for the very popular country rock band "Phoenix" for many years before going solo. His music crosses generational boundaries and is enjoyed by fans of all ages. Dan has released four CDs, "My Kind of Country", "Country/Folk", which contains his regional hit "When The Last Train Leaves Appalachia", "Songs of Faith" and "Christmas Memories". Dan performs a wide variety of country, folk, gospel and original songs at festivals, county fairs, community & corporate events, private parties & charitable events. Whether solo or with back up musicians, Dan gives an upbeat and very entertaining performance.
