Dan Lids Fernandes

Dan Lids Fernandes Born Ilidio Daniel Fernandes (full name), also known as Lids, I have been playing and writing music for over 30 years. In Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney I played throughout the mid 70s to 1987 until I stopped to care for my mother after she became terminally ill. Although I stopped playing publicly I continued to write and play music. The music is mostly original covering a broad range of genres described by peers as some “R&B and Soul, funk, reggae and pop and roll” I have also introduced my love of country blues, this blend of styles is complimented with selected cover versions of songs from other artists such as Bob Dylan, Little Feat, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. I love to sing a great many ways, I've always loved to improvise and over the years I feel at ease with the eclectic nature of my playing and songwriting. My playing style has developed from necessity after two spinal fusions left me with permanent damage to my left side and hand, I had to regain physically memory twice both times it left me with a little less feeling in my hand through my stubbornness I have tried to regain as much physical memory as I can so that I can accompany myself on the guitar, to a standard I am happy to perform with. These days I play mostly solo, occasionally having friends sit in. I am hoping to launch a album this year which will include launch gigs with an ensemble. I will keep you all posted. Happy Trails.
