Ann Meadows

Ann Meadows is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and percussionist whose musical range encompasses blues, folk, rhythm and blues, pop, and country rock. Ann was born in Jacksonville, Fla. but her Bohemian style parents quickly relocated to North Carolina where Ann grew up steeped in traditional Carolina styles of music. Ann’s Aunt Edna traveled, sang and recorded with the famous Arthur “Guitar Boogie” Smith, lending ideas and dreams of music to Ann in her early teens. Ann’s desire for music quickly developed with classical, opera, and creative vocal classes in high school. With this under her belt Ann's musical creativity, culminated her into a sensitive songstress, committed to her songwriting craft. Ann’s vocal range is on a wide scale. Ranging from the low down blues to the heartfelt melodies of her originals, her vocal prowess is sure to please. The personal depth of her stories and melodic interpretation, speak volumes of her years of experience as a seasoned singer songwriter. Her writing is musically intriguing as well as faith based and offers traditional family values. As an Americana artist, Ann has captured the true essence of roots songwriting, performing and style. She maintains her unique sound on the acoustic 12 string guitar accompanying her heartfelt crystalline vocals. Ann’s accolades include opening for Doc Watson’s 20 year side kick- Jack Lawrence, Jim Avett -singer/songwriter and father of the Avett Brothers, and flat top picker Tommy Edwards; all well known North Carolina icons/natives. She has shared the stage with many North Carolina musicians, and International Recording Artist and Bluesman, Tommy McCoy. Ann has been a finalist in the Carolina Country Music Festival’s choice for Battle of the Bands, and also a finalist in the Country Music Showdown’s songwriting contest. Ann Meadows sometimes joins forces with other guitarist and offers her sound as a duo, rounding out her eclectic mix of original, roots and blues. The caliber of talent that accompanies Ann in the duo adds signature smoking guitar licks and some jazz influxed leads. The combination will get you on your feet where you quickly find yourself singing along. Whether alone with 12 string guitar or on stage with a full band; Ann Meadows gives a part of herself and her songs will stay with you, in your mind and in your heart.
