The Space Sharks Release new EP! The Space Sharks are back from interstellar space with their new 4-song EP, The Space Sharks Fuzz Tone Psychedelic Show. “We went even further into the void this time and came back with new songs!” jokes Vocalist/Guitarist Lonnie Richard. “They’re some of the most unique tracks we’ve ever written. We hope you like them! We had a blast recording them!” The EP kicks off with the rousing Mean Tambourine. You’re invited to the party with the opening line “Hello! Welcome to the Space Sharks Psychedelic Show,” and before you know it, you find yourself floating in fuzzed out guitar solo madness. The band likes to keep the first or second take when recording. “That’s when all of the fun, spontaneous things happen. Anything more than one or two takes, and you start repeating yourself, and the spark is gone. It’s amazing if you can capture that fresh energy in the first couple of takes.” says Lon. Next up is Driving Me Sane. With its mix of time signatures powered by Mike Martino’s big kick drum, the song builds to a wall of guitars. “We did some experimenting on these tracks,” says Mike. “I played 4/4 time while Lon played 7/8 in the verses. Things like that. We had fun for sure!” The next track may be the most up-tempo of the EP. The punk vibe and energy of Feels Like morphs two thirds of the way through the song into hypnotic, echoed guitars and the mantra “This is what it feels like to live your life.” The trippy panning effects on all 4 songs enhance the listener’s experience, especially with headphones and earbuds. The EP finishes with Influencing Machine, which fuses psychedelia, funk and hard rock into a catchy, quirky gem, and before you know it “Last call is over.” It’s not time to go home, though. It’s time to press play again! Influenced by the rock and psychedelic bands of the 60s and 70s, The Space Sharks formed in 2010 and released their first album “The Space Sharks” in 2011, followed by “Love Bomb” in 2017 and the EP “Space Songs” in 2020. The band is based out of Baltimore Maryland and Boston Massachusetts, USA.
