As one of the contemporary blues world’s finest, Slim Butler, has released his eagerly awaited fifth album Under The Influence in March 2026. Self-produced by Slim, Under The Influence is, as the name suggests, collection of ten tasty cover songs.
Under The Influence was recorded over a few days at Suprovox Studio, Ikkala, Finland in December 2025. Engineered by acclaimed guitarist and harmonica maestro, Tomi Leino, who also added some soulful touches on blues harp (2,5). Other featured guests are Gilbert Kuppusami on soulful vocals (1,3,8), keyboard wizard Harri Taittonen (1,4,6,8) and Elias Ruokanen on lead guitar on track 7.
Backed by his touring band, The SlimCuts, Slim has gained a solid reputation as a true recording artist and powerful live performer. Butler is firmly standing at the forefront of a widespread revival of interest in the Blues in Finland and more widely in Scandinavia and Europe. Slim Butler & The SlimCuts represented Finland in The European Blues Challenge in Hell, Norway, 2018, and in the 35th International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January 2019.
Slim Butler´s first two albums: Inner Blues (2012) and Bad Intention (2016) were nominated for Best Blues Album Of The Year in Finland, respectively. The internationally acclaimed third album Big Freeze was released in 2018. Slim´s fourth album Bone Deep saw the light of the day 2021.
Slim Butler hails from the unfamiliar hot bed of Finland´s Blues scene, Rovaniemi. Slim was born in the summer of 1963 as Jarmo Puhakka in this small Arctic Circle town. Ever since picking up his first guitar (a cheap mail-order Lucky Seven) at the tender age of 12, he´s been fronting local bands, always leaning towards Blues, Soul and Rock.
