Hello everyone, I'm Simon Guitar John, a Welsh Musical Artist.
Here's a brief description and history...
My music was originally blues-based, but with many musical influences coming from various directions into my life. I'm from that point in time where everyone was taping their favourite tunes onto cassettes...I used to play along with John Lee Hooker on Chess records 45s and EPs that belonged to my dad, who bought me my first guitars, and who was a big Elvis/Orbison/Country Blues fan.
I later got hold of a reel-to-reel tape recorder, where I could build up tracks. I started jamming around that time, in Cardiff City, South Wales...I discovered Robert Johnson, after hearing how Clapton, Hendrix and Dylan all revered him. I was doing stage stuff, playing lead guitar, or bass, or singing...I also play a bit of harmonica, drums, or piano keyboards.
I took some classical and jazz lessons, around the time I was introduced to some Ace players and singers in South, and later, West Wales. I used to jam in various Cardiff pubs, the FBI, Sam's Bar, and Irish pub Mulligans. In Milford Haven I played at The Starboard, and at the Nelson. I also met many music-lovers in the System. Most recordings are scattered around SW Wales, but there's a lot of it online.
