Peter Keyes writes the songs before they become hits for the commercial music industry. Now with over 400 songs unpublished and available to emerging recording artists and performers, major and independent recording labels, and publishing companies.
Peter Burwen was raised in Danvers, Massachusetts just north of Boston. Peter was surrounded by music growing up. His father was an avid trumpet player who developed and designed his own adjustable trumpet mouthpiece sold under the name "Soloflex". Peter himself played the horn for some dozen years, and was a member of the high school marching and concert bands. It was during these years that he gained his knowledge of music theory. However, at the same time, Peter was busy creating his own music on the keyboards, synthesizers, piano, and guitars by ear, and quickly understood the process of writing original songs and recording them on his own. This was a self taught process that landed him in the commercial music industry and the world of pop music in the end.
Peter put the horn down when finishing high school, and during his college years, was given the pseudonym "Peter Keyes" for his work in many a cover band as a keyboard player. The name was used so often by his peers, that he adopted it as his working pseudonym. Later, he devoted his soul concentration writing and producing original music using the latest technologies of the day. His style became very unique, and integrated many of the influences he had grown up listening to in the rock/pop genre. Many of the pop tunes he produced included full productions including horns, strings, pianos, guitars, vocals, and percussion.
Peter Keyes went on to fill many roles in the commercial music biz in addition to acting as music producer and published songwriter, including general manager for the Music Mill Rehearsal Complex, Publisher of the Music Mill SOURCE magazine, and Producer for the Music Mill SOURCE television program.
Peter Keyes has continued to instruct workshops in education on the business side of the commercial music industry based on his 30 years in the business.
Today Peter still writes the songs, just as he always did in the beginning. He has a small project studio at his home in the Monadnock Mountains of New Hampshire, where he enjoys the quietness of this pristine setting so conducive to the creation of new music.
