*LIBBY RAE WATSON* Libby Rae Watson grew up in Pascagoula, Mississippi, just a few blocks from the Gulf of Mexico. Not exactly The Delta but just a few hours away. Captivated by the music, she became deeply involved with The Delta in the mid 1970s, searching, exploring, documenting, meeting and/or playing with all the blues artists she could find. People like Big Joe Williams, Furry Lewis, Johnny Woods, Eugene Powell, Son Thomas, and many more! Legends and obscurities...she was a twenty year old white girl venturing into places few would dare to enter. But it was her friendship with Hollandales Sam Chatmon that influenced her the most. They became fast friends from day one until his death in at the age of 84 in 1983. Libby Rae performed "Sitting on Top of the World" at his funeral at the request of his son. Now, after years of staying close to home on the Coast, Libby Rae is back to the old Delta Blues where she started... and back to the road! *THE LIBERAETORS* Although the Liberaetors no longer perform, friends and fans always ask to hear our songs. We released 2 cds during our times together. "Saltwater Blues" is our first. It was a live recording from Scranton's in downtown Pascagoula. The second is "Spur of the Moment" recorded in Pete Leoni's studio in Bay St.Louis. I will add more songs in the future so stay tuned! We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed creating them! *HIGHLIGHTS* Mississippi Delta Blues Society of Indianola Blues Challenge 2014- Runner up 2015- Winner 2016- Winner International Blues Challenge 2015- SemiFinalist 2016- SemiFinalist Artist of the Year 2016 Mississippi Delta Blues Society of Indianola Libby Rae has performed at many festivals throughout the South including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest, Juke Joint Festival, King Biscuit Festival, Sam Chatmon Festival, and the Mighty Mississippi Music Festival to name a few.
