Kevin James, whose stage name is "Kayja", (pronounced KayJah) is a remarkably talented smooth jazz, R&B keyboard pianist, composer, electrifying R&B singer, and professionally trained stage actor. Since the late 1970's, Kevin has enjoyed entertaining capacity crowds in popular local nite clubs, resort hotels and casinos. Kevin James works as studio musician, tours and has performed on stage some of the biggest names in American music; - the legendary O'Jays - Teddy Pendergrass - Hall & Oates - Cher - Stephanie Mills (Broadway star of "The WiZ" and 5 time #1 R&B hitmaker) - Dennis Edwards and the Temptations Review - Morris Day and the Time - gospel legend Shirley Caesar - ...and Blues 'Hall of Fame' great, Albert King Kevin James' style is heavily influenced by Earth, Wind and Fire and the incomparable piano artistry of George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Art Tatum, Joe Sample of the Jazz Crusaders, Oscar Peterson, Kenny Kirkland, and Phineas Newborn Junior. Kevin graduated from Visual & Performing Arts High School (VAP) of Saint Louis, Missouri in 1979. VAP is a special Magnet School Program for gifted youth who display exceptional talent in theatrical arts or music. Shortly thereafter, Kevin attended the Firestone Conservatory of Music at the University of Akron in Ohio where he majored in Jazz Composition and Music Performance. Kevin's smooth baritone voice and keyboard artistry is featured on the best-selling CD of 'Physical Therapy', which is a very popular R&B/smooth jazz band hailing out of St. Louis, Missouri.
