The essence of a self-made musician, Kat Chapman grew up in Newton, MA and started performing in local clubs with her band and as a busker in Harvard Square and Faneuil Hall, where she stayed and played for three summers. "It toughened me up'' she recalls. That journey is reflected in her voice and pure, raw and honest songs. Kat makes the most of her acoustic guitar with alternate tunings, which bring richness to her live sound. Metronome Magazine described Kat Chapman's voice as "...thick and resonating with body and soul, Kat Chapman sings with the passion of a woman using her last breath on earth." Career highlights include opening for musical greats Boz Scaggs, Chris Isaak, Joan Armatrading, Huey Lewis and The News, and John Mayall, plus touring through Europe multiple times, including the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland.
Her most recent CD “Frail to Fearless” was created at Dreamland in West Hurley NY. Famed drummer and producer Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Indigo Girls, Sarah McLaughlin) brought in some notable musicians for the project including Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson) and Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian among others.
A truly dedicated musician, Kat Chapman lives in Boston. She is a lover of animals and nature and enjoys playing with, and sharing her love of music and art with her two young daughters. Kat Chapman continues to develop into an artist with an exceptional ability to connect to live audiences and listeners in a way that few singer-songwriters can.
