More About The Artist
Canadian singer/songwriter John Pippus has written songs in genres that span: rock, folk, blues, pop, and country. In addition to writing well over 100 of his own songs, he has co-written songs with both award-winning and up-and-coming writers.
Co-writers include: Trooper’s Ra McGuire (Vancouver), Angela Lauer (Nashville), Ivan Boudreau (Vancouver), Kacy Crowley (Austin), Aaron Joyce (Vancouver), Tim Shean (Nashville), Karina Morin (Montreal/Vancouver), Chris Aaron (Denver) and Saga Studio owner Michael Nowak (Vancouver) to name a few.
His songs have been played on CBC Radio One, CBC Radio Three, CKDM, CFOX, CJSF, various BC-based radio stations and numerous internet radio stations internationally.
John’s work has been included on several compilation CDs including two that have been distributed to Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan, and one that benefits The War Child Project (Amsterdam). As well, he has had songs included on compilation CDs produced by “One Cool Word” magazine, and Vancouver Artist’s Collective Association.
“THIS CITY” a full-length CD of original songs is set for release in January, 2009.
Singles “Oh Oh Oh” and “Going Away”, produced by Winston, are available for sale on iTunes and Rhapsody. A six-song EP, “Song Tourist” was released in the summer of 2006.
In June, 2008, John was one of twenty five songwriters invited to attend Steel Bridge Songfest in Wisconsin. This event, organized by Pat MacDonald (Timbuk3), culminated with an all-day festival headlined by Jackson Browne, JaneWeidlin (Gogos), and Eric McFadden (P-Funk, Eric Burdon). John performed two songs co-written that week on the main stage for an audience of over 4,000.
Favorite venues John has played include: The Bluebird Café (Nashville), Tractor Tavern (Seattle), The Yale Hotel (Vancouver), Canon’s Gait (Edinburgh) and Bruxelles Bar (Dublin).
In April, 2009 John will perform as part of the once-a-month Musical Expressions Series in Richmond, BC. Other performers included in this series, among others are: John Mann (Spirit of the West), blues legend Gaye Delorme, and Tom Landa (The Paperboys)
