About
“This City” CD Release: April 2009
“This City” consists of thirteen intimate and up-close songs. Tales of loss, of wonder, of longing and love - and of life well lived. Available on iTunes and CDBaby.
EarShot says of the songs on "This City": "'Oh, Oh, Oh', is one of the gems. A simple song, it should be heard and savoured. It has great vocal delivery in that John Pippus sounds like he totally enjoys singing it. The addition of Nat Jay’s vocal contribution perfectly complements Johns’ smoky, sexy voice. It gets better. 'Doing It For Us', will resonate inside you, because the lyrics are so believable. You’ve either thought or heard these lines yourself. A surprise on This City is track ten, 'Yes We Can (Dream)”' which is biting and hopeful at the same time. Finally 'This City' sounds like the midnight musings of a man coming to terms with the outcome of his life. It’s beautifully raw and makes you feel like you’re eavesdropping. Throughout these songs there weaves the smooth and expressive guitar playing of John Pippus.
Bottom line: Would I go and see John Pippus live? Yes, absolutely. Would I throw down money for this album while there? Yes, absolutely. I’d even ask him to sign it for me."
