Jason Lee Thomason
It’s the typical pursuit of stardom story. Small town boy grows up aspiring to be a country artist and leaves town for the neon-lit streets of Nashville to pursue his dream. Born in Lakeland, FL he was the son of a preacher man and moved around a bit as a child. His mother was a piano player and led music in their church. Jason remembers as early as age 4, she would sing harmony parts in his ear at Southern Gospel concerts. It took Jason a while to come out of his shell and share his talents. He was 15 the first time he sang in front of a crowd and didn’t perform again until the age of 18 when he started leading the music at his father’s church. It was that 10 year stretch where he would hone his skills as a vocalist, guitarist and writer.
Jason now resides in the suburbs of Nashville but before moving he enjoyed some local success in the North Central Florida area. He released his first album in June of 2008 and was getting radio airplay at 3 local stations reaching millions daily. He was able to open shows for James Otto and Confederate Railroad before making the big move to Nashvegas. Upon reaching Music City he hit the ground running booking every writer’s night he could find from Tootsie’s to Chic-Fil-A. He played any venue that would have him.
It was at those writer’s nights that he would meet people that have now connected him with the best contacts he has acquired. In 2010 Jason was a runner up in a Songwriter’s Competition and won the right to work alongside producer Dan Mitchell (If You Want To Play In Texas) of the Tracking Room, Nashville. That deal never really launched as Dan fell ill and the project was placed on the back burner. In 2013, Jason recorded 5 new songs produced by Nashville sessions musician and producer, B James Lowry and co-writer Tory Harris. He is also actively pitching those songs to other major label artists. It was recorded by A-list musicians at Rukkus Room in Nashville.
Whether it’s as a writer or an artist, Jason just wants to make music for a living. So the small town son of a preacher man continues on hoping someday to be a household name. Until then you’ll hear his voice echoing out in the night air on the streets of Nashville…chasing that ever-elusive dream.
