On Saturday July 12th, the New York City Wiccan Family Temple will be hosting the 3rd annual Witch Fest on Astor place. The event is geared towards making people aware of the Wiccan faith and in hopes of raising funds to have a an actual temple to call their own to worship in and hold events now that they were just granted non profit 501c3 status by the state of New York. The NYC Wiccan Family Temple also supports several charities including : the make a wish foundation, Doctors without borders, local animal shelters, the Ronald McDonald house, and the Avon Walk to Cure breast cancer to name a few. The event will also feature live entertainment from the following musical artists: Imbolg, a fitting band for this event as they are named after an actual wiccan holiday. They are known for conducting a brief wiccan ritual before each show and personifying the spirit of wicca by continuing to move forward each year, performing in more cities in the United States and receiving more positive reviews from the press for their dark yet soothing sounds that have fans of the goth genre dancing along, and the fans of the punk, rock and metal genres cheering them on with horned fingers held high.Imbolg lead singer and founder, Nate Dal Cais has also recently formed his own record label, Forever Autumn Records in order to represent Imbolg and other up and coming artists. Shakti Thara, The Global Pop diva herself is returning to perform for the Wiccan Family. She will surely once again entrance the audience with her powerful and warm vocals mixed with a spirited danceable instrumentation influenced by Native American, Gypsy and Indian cultures that has earned her the #5 spot on the charts in India as well as airplay on the BBC Channel 1, and New York’s own Hot 97 and Los Angeles’ Power 105. Ms. Thara’s music was also featured in the film “Mall Cop” and the Tyra Bank’s reality show: “America’s next top model”. With a career out to such a strong start, no one will be able to predict where Shakti’s passion for music will take her next. Along with several vendors selling merchandise such as jewelry, books, candles as well as Physic and Astrological readings, the event will feature appearances by many world renowned author and lecturers such as: Rev. Don Lewis, founder of the Witch school International, “Kitchen Witch” Dawn Hunt, and Authors: Judika Illes, Obern Zell-Ravenhart, Galena Krasskova, Lexa Rosean, and performer Kenny Klein. Witch Fest will be held a the NYC Landmark known as Astor place between Broadway and Lafeyette streets in lower Manhattan.
