About

East Coast Dirt -- anything but dirty. This Asheville quartet keeps it smooth with funky instrumentals, sharp and groovy bass lines and fun, unique lyrics. From fluid interactions that will set your mind free to sexy beats that make you want to dance, East Cost Dirt keeps your ears in anticipation but always leaves them satisfied. Imagine if the music of Herbie Hancock and Black Sabbath set the mood for some babymakin’ -- East Coast Dirt would be born. With elements of rock, roots and experimental, their music is truly a brilliant journey.

East Coast dirt has been crafting their unique style of “Sneaker Boogaloo” since their current lineup was solidified in early 2007. It is a blend of raw spontaneity, playful discovery and just a touch of sophisticated polish. Their sound may be new, but their band members are all veterans to performing. Founding members Wilson Hawes (bass, guitar, vocals) and Brad Boughton (drums, vocals) joined forces with Brian Steele (guitar, bass, vocals) and Will Little (keyboards, guitar, vocals) to finish laying the foundation for the lineup that you see today. The collective chemistry created on stage is obvious to any ear; improvisations bring to life some of their most creative and intellectual compositions while keeping the show fresh for band and audience members alike night after night.

After repeat road trips ranging from Charlotte to Charleston, and Atlanta to Virginia, music lovers have continuously shown their love and support for the boys of East Coast Dirt over the last two years. This growing community of fans is expanding this band's horizons both geographically and sonically, establishing a positive influence on their writing and vitality. Now their music is reaching the ears of an even broader fan base as they explore the many new venues that this region has to offer. The boys are heading to Asheville's Collapseable Studios this winter to create a debut album that will feature fan favorites, as well as new tunes and an emphasis on vocals. Set for a Spring 2010 release, East Coast Dirt plans to capture the dynamics of their live shows in the studio while highlighting each member's distinct writing styles with a balance between instrumental journeys and focused lyrical story-telling. They are truly a band of rock-n-roll joyriders driving home raw groove.
