“Debbie’s love for music started from before birth”, her mom says that “she used to tap her foot to the music before she was born”. Singing was her first love and she sang with the groups Main Circuit, Trix and Debbie and Company in the New York area from the early 70’s to the early 80’s. From Middletown, New Jersey, Debbie says she gave up her “mic”, to have her children, Matthew and Michelle, in 1983. It was at that time “songs just started to come to my head” She had her first success in 1992 when she wrote, produced and performed a theme song for a cable television show “My Good Friend”, which aired from 1992-1995. In 1994 Debbie went to what was known then as “Fan Fair” and came across the Nashville Songwriters Association booth. Two years later became a member. “Becoming a member of NSAI totally transformed my songwriting, she says, “ I began attending Songposiums, Workshops, meeting other songwriters and developing my songwriting relationships”. Boyfriend”, co-written with John Wesley Coutts, a co-writer from Scotland she was paired with as a member of SongU.com, won the VH1 Song of the year, taking first place in the country category and third place overall.
