BOBBY FALK GROUP is a progressive band that incorporates the jazz element with covers and originality, constantly trying to appeal to more diverse audiences...
About
**The Bobby Falk group is performing in the Jazz Factory Orphans Series: Night of Jazz at the Comedy Caravan. The Comedy Caravan is located at 1250 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky. The next performance is on April 20, 2009, with an opening performance by the Cubano Africano Latin Jazz band.. Bobby has been the originator/coordinator of this "NIGHT OF JAZZ" event since August 2008.. this jazz event is geared towards merging together the region's instrumental music groups that incorporate the jazz element into their music**
The Bobby Falk group has performed regularly at several venues around the city since 2006. The band leader Bobby Falk has been a jazz musician all his life, as a composer, drummer and percussionist. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies (Percussion emphasis) from the University of Louisville School of Music in 2005, which included jazz studies abroad in Brazil, and performance experience/recording with Lew Soloff, Phil Woods, Curtis Fuller, Lionel Hampton, John Fedchock, Kenny Werner, Jimmy Heath, Jerry Coker, Bob Mintzer, among others.. In addition to performing, Bobby Falk teaches drums and percussion at the Kentucky School for the Blind (where he is in his fourth year), Hurstbourne music school (Music go round), Don Wilson Music, as well as private instruction throughout the region..
Bobby puts a strong emphasis on the importance of the audience.. for the listener (your audience) is arguably the most important element, he generally strives to merge a significant bond with his audience/fan base, while maintaining the intergrity of the music he loves (Jazz), and staying true to the art form.. As a result, Bobby works hard to maintain a consisent performance schedule, appearing in very diverse locations as well as "jazz" venues.. this further merges a bond with your audience, and generates interest and promotion in JAZZ, and brings new fans in.. He believes no matter how great the musicianship, "artistic product" is- you still need an audience to play for, and market the PRODUCT.. Falk also incorporates occasional pop/rock "covers" into the repretoire to relate to the audience, progressive arrangements of diverse material ranging from Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Beatles, Grover Washington, Ray Charles, Etta James, Bruce Hornsby, Doobie Brothers, Michael MacDonald, and much much more.. Falk believes it is this commitment to the music that ensures a successful 'career' in music, as well as longevity, intregrity, and consistent activity...
Bobby released his first album, "Turning the tables" in 2006, and is planning to record a live album project in Fall 2009, utilizing many compositional and personel configurations, taking his music full circle..
