Big Steve and the Trainwreck

Back in 2001, a few Eastern Oregon musicians had an idea to start a blues band. Those early discussions and jam sessions evolved into the formation of Big Steve and the Trainwreck. The original lineup included Big Steve Humphrey on vocals and harmonica, Ken McAtee and Les Kannier on guitar, Joe Sanchez on bass, Ric Walters on drums, and Aaron Engum on sax. By the time of the band’s first CD release ( Sigh For Me in 2004 ), Ken had moved out of state and was replaced by Albert “Tater” Tibbets. Dave Chorazy then came aboard to play trumpet. There were other changes to the band lineup over the next few years. - When the 2009 CD Hoodoo Eyes was released, the band was in their stripped-down mode. The core of the band was Big Steve, Les, Marc Hickey on bass, and Frank Dye on drums. Dave appeared on one song on the CD, along with Peter Walters on sax. On the song Right On Time, we had a gospel choir comprised of Bonnie Ward, E.J. Harris, James Harsin, and Rick Pullen. - The current CD No Turnin’ Back (Released 2011) is a compilation of the band’s musical journey, with songs from the two previous CDs and six new songs performed by Big Steve, Les, Marc, and Frank. - We would like to acknowledge our former members who helped the evolution of the band: bass players Alex Corona, Roger Connelly, and Shawn Risteen, sax player Lloyd Commander, and keyboard player Dan Mitzimberg. Without their help, none of this would have been possible.
