About
Barry Nelson & Jeceris
Barry Nelson has been a professional musician since leaving school. He actually played his first live gig at the age of 15 at Abbotsholme School in Derbyshire. He is a prolific songwriter who concentrates on strong melodies and meaningful lyrics, which in the past have been drawn from characters he has encountered and tales told. He has performed alongside top artists during his career and has formed many bands over the years. He was born in Canada, went to Junior school in Madrid, Spain and finished schooling in Derbyshire. He then lived in Liverpool for 8 years where he basically did his 'apprenticeship' playing live. He released his first single with his band OCEANS ELEVEN and then moved to the Isle of Man to live. Other successful bands followed, but his latest band JECERIS took some years to find the perfect members. Barry's wife Val Nelson who was originally (and still is) his Manager, now plays Bass and sings backing vocals. They also play acoustically as a duo on the Island and spent 5 years touring with a band in the UK promoting Barry's first 2 albums 'Living On Air" and 'Coda' and a rock EP. They both still live on the Isle of Man, which is in the British Isles and home of Famous Tourist Trophy Motorcycle Race Festival (and where the Bee Gees were born).
The three other band members are Adam Cubbon who has replaced Trevor Hird from BarrowHe is an acomplished guitarist in all styles, Drummer Nick Collings is the newcomer playing locally and when John Clark from Kendal can't tour Jeceris have a snap-on session Saxophone player Gerard McDonald, who is a virtuoso on his instruments and regularly draws a crowd, as do all the members. Jeceris tour with Barry with a passion for the sheer love of it, and are due to release their new rock album with Barry in March 2007. When not all together, they also have seperate music projects and Barry has spent the most recent period on the Island playing with his popular 3 piece acoustic band The Creamy Heads featuring Davey Knowles. Also local band RedGap is a new project. Barry has 5 albums released to date on the Geode Music Label which was set up by Val in 1994 when they met. Jeceris often get together on the Island or in England to play and to extend their rapidly growing fan-base along the way. This band has longetivity, original music with meaningful lyrics and Geode Music is now looking for a Licensing deal for Barry's back-catalogue of fabulously diverse songs. Barry also plays solo on acoustic guitar and is an excellent live performer.
